Affluenza is consumption for the sake of consumption. It is the cause
of overwork
and overspending. It's an addiction
to more and a blind
faith that more means
happier. I do not believe that anyone can opt out of the consumption game, but I
do believe that we all can strive to become more frugal, conscious consumers.

Nike, owner of Converse and Hurley, is the worlds largest and most profitable
shoe company. They consistently chose to employ foreign manufacturing facilities
which violate minimum wage and overtime laws, factories which have had numerous
complaints filed for physical abuse and sexual harrassment. While Nike
should be praised for it's job creation in Asia, they should also be pressured into
contracting the work to more responsible factories.
